What if ICE shows up at my business?

In that type of situation, if ICE shows up at your business, they’re probably trying to check for illegal workers. We’ve all heard stories where ICE would show up at maybe a factory setting and employees would literally run away or flee. Sometimes that happens with employees because of the culture where the employees are really working lawfully but they have such a distrust of the federal government and the immigration system, based on things that they believe to be true, which may not even be a factor.

If ICE shows up at your company, you certainly want to contact a lawyer. Get some legal advice. Get somebody who can talk to the ICE agents without you talking and find out the extent of their investigation, find out what they’re doing there, find out if they’re there because they’re interested in what your company practices are or if they’re simply looking for one individual who maybe has committed some unrelated crime. So, it’s very important to get some legal advice at that stage just to find out exactly what is going on.
