The police cannot enter your house without a warrant unless you agree to it. So, in other words, if the police come to your house and they ask to come inside because they want to check on something or see something, you have the power to allow them to enter: that’s called a consent search. If you do not consent, then they have to have a warrant in order to enter. There are some exceptions to that: where someone’s life is in danger or the house may be on fire or something like that. But in almost all instances, they have to have a warrant unless you agree.
